Various Artists - Briese
Switzerland's Bunte Kuh have filled the closing summer months with a rich selection of ethereal melodically focussed productions, landing in the form of a neat six tracker VA. Up first is Arutani with ‘Caroline’, who introduces muffled chords over a pacing groove, with intricate melodies to keep you on your toes as they come and go leaving sparkling remnants behind. Roman Blum follows with ‘Hadaken’ - a punchy production with glitchy lead lines and a repetitive vocal segment that all sit over a simplistic groove. ‘Mahiluka’ is the work of Kuriose Naturale and features inspirational chord progressions, delivered by rich organ it paves the way for a deep and magical production. ‘Ego Trick’ by Die Vogelperspektive takes it towards darker realms with a more minimalistic approach to the previous tracks. Tech grooves slice through the swirling pads and rumbling bass beneath. Techno is introduced by Barbia Salour as rolling hi hats and a jittery bass line carry on in to the early hours, pausing only briefly for the introduction of horn like synths ann0ouncing their prescence. To close the collection, Naútes lightens the tone slight with ‘Zephyr’, still maintaining the rolling vibe from before, yet with rising melodic patterns which continue to build through the experience and bring to close a fine collection from Bunte Kuh once again.
